Generate a Catalog PDF
PDFs may be required by your institution for a number of reasons, such as providing a printed copy to your students, your faculty, or even your accrediting body. Kuali provides a quick, simple method for generating a PDF.
- From within the Catalog Manager, select the catalog you would like to generate a PDF for by clicking on the title of it.
- Click on the tab titled PDF in the navigation bar.
- Click on the Generate PDF button.
- The generation process may take a few minutes to complete. A 'Created By' and 'Created Date' will be listed for your reference.
- When the PDF is generated, click the download icon (
) to download a copy of the PDF.
- The PDF will stay available to download again at a later time if needed. If you would prefer to delete the PDF, click the delete icon (
) in line with the PDF to delete.
Customize Catalog PDF
The PDF generation includes some customization options to allow you to adjust the appearance of the document.
- From within the Catalog application, select the catalog you would like to generate a PDF for by clicking on the title of it.
- Click on the tab titled Settings in the navigation bar.
- Click on PDF from the left navigation.
From this screen, you'll be able to adjust the PDF in a few different ways: selecting a specific cover page, adjusting font sizes, and determining how the header or footer should appear.
Select a cover page
The cover will become the first page of the catalog.
- Select the content item that will become the cover page. You can either use an existing content item, or you can create a new content item specifically for the cover image that is not used in the catalog.
Custom Font Size
You can specify the font size used throughout the document by entering a value into the field. We suggest using a font size of 8pts or higher to ensure readability.
Custom Header
The Custom Header field can be used to enter text that would appear centered on the top of every page in the document.
Custom Footer
The Custom Footer field can be used to enter text that would appear centered at the bottom of every page in the document.
The typical use case of this would be to include your institution's name, document type, and year. For example, Kuali Institute Undergraduate Catalog 2021-2022.
In the event you'd like to include page numbers in your footer, you can add the text Page [page] of [topage] into this field to generate them.
