When you have multiple catalogs set for display on your website (meaning the drop-down menu is available to select catalogs) - links directly to a program/course/etc will only function for items in the default catalog.
When displaying catalogs, they can either be set so that all appear on the same page and you select the catalog through the drop-down menu; or you can embed each one on a separate page.
When they are set to show with a drop-down, any link used to catalog content will look for information in the default catalog - the first one in the list.
This means when you use a link that looks like this: https://www.institutionname.edu/academics/academic-catalogs.php#/programs/HyGEO3xPd - it is looking for this program within the default catalog. If this is a program in the Graduate catalog, and the default catalog is the Undergraduate - then this will result in a 404 error as this program doesn't exist in the default catalog.
If you first change the catalog selection with the drop-down to the Graduate catalog, and try the link again - it will work, but only once you have changed the catalog in the dropdown.
Currently, the only way you could direct link to an item in the catalog without requiring the user to make a catalog selection first would be to place each catalog on its own page.
Since each catalog would then have its own unique URL, you would be able to direct a user first to the specific item in that catalog.
