Feature Idea Process

We are dedicated to making your experience with Kuali as seamless and efficient as possible. We understand that your needs may evolve over time, and we welcome your input in the form of feature requests.

This article outlines how we evaluate and handle your feature ideas, ensuring that you are an integral part of our ongoing development process.

Step 1: Submission of Feature Requests

Submitting a feature request is simple. You can submit your idea through our feature request app available in the In Progress section of our roadmap. Just tell us what you need and why you think it's important. We appreciate your valuable insights and will review your request carefully. 

Step 2: Evaluation and Review

Once your feature request is submitted, it goes through a thorough evaluation. Our team assesses how the requested feature aligns with the software's purpose and its potential to benefit the entire higher education community. Not all feature requests can be implemented immediately due to resource constraints and other ongoing projects. To ensure we focus on what's most important to you, we prioritize feature requests based on their urgency, impact, and alignment with our product strategy.

Step 3: Development and Testing

If your feature request is approved, our development team will work on bringing your idea to life. During this phase, we ensure that the feature is developed and rigorously tested to meet quality standards and to ensure it doesn't negatively affect the rest of the software.

Step 4: Deployment

Once the feature passes quality assurance, it is included in a software update or release, making it available to all users. New features will be announced in What’s new in the upper right of the product. 

Step 5: Feedback and Iterations

After deployment, your feedback is highly valuable. We encourage you to share your thoughts on the new feature's functionality, usability, and any improvements you'd like to see. Your feedback helps us refine and improve the feature further.

Step 6: Closure

Once the feature is successfully integrated, we consider your feature request as closed. We thank you for your contribution and dedication to improving our software.
