Overview
In addition to articles available in the Knowledge Base, there is also the Circles Community feature in the Support Portal that gives users a forum for discussion with peer institutions. The Circles link is available in the top righthand corner or on the main Kuali Support page where you can join the conversation (requires login). Not only can you post on topics with questions or engage the community on feedback, but you can also 'follow' any of the Topics or Posts so you're automatically notified when further activity occurs. Users can also comment on posts and vote to reflect their agreement on posts or comments.
In order to view Topics and participate in the Community Circles feature, users from member schools will need an account in the Kuali Support Portal and login to take advantage of the feature. To request an account please submit a request here and we'll get you set up!
Below outlines the various features of Circles.
Circles
Within the Circles main page you will see the available Topics, recent Activity, and search by keywords. The Topics will also display the number of posts and followers for each. In the Circles Topics dropdown, you can also toggle between viewing Topics or viewing all Posts instead.
Topics
Topics are forums or destinations created by Kuali for users to post on and discuss items among other users in the community. You can follow or unfollow a Topic so any post or activity on that given Topic will send a notification to you instantly. If you would like to suggest a new Topic be added to the forum please let us know!
Posts
To engage in the Circles community feature users can Post on one of the available Topics. To submit a post you can simply click the 'New Post' link which will take you to the entry form. Upon entry of a Title it will search for similar posts that already exist that may answer your question, but if not, you can proceed with your post as described below.
- Title
- Give a succinct summary of the issue or question you want to pose to the Community Topic - also please indicate the school you are from as reference in the title.
- Details
- Provide a complete description of the issue or question you have and the specific module it pertains to in the system so the Community members can best respond.
- Topic
- Choose the most appropriate Topic in the dropdown to post against.
After complete you can 'submit' the post and wait for additional comments from other community members. As the author of the post you automatically 'follow' the post so you will be notified of any further activity.
Votes & Comments
Within posts users can provide their feedback on the thread via the comment option. The post will display all user comments so you can see the history of the conversation among all users. You can also vote on a given post or comment to indicate your agreement. The 'follow' option is also available at the post level in the top righthand corner so you will be notified of any activity.
My Activity - Contributions
Within the 'My Activities' it allows you to track all your 'Requests', 'Contributions', and items you are 'Following' in the Knowledge Base.
