Welcome
Welcome to the Kuali Build family! We're so excited you're here and ready to start "building" with Kuali Build.
As an application (app) administrator you have been given permission to create apps in Kuali Build. An app comprises the form you create in the Form Builder, the workflow, and the data that is submitted. It is the container that pulls everything together.
This guide will walk you through the basics of creating your first app by directing you to some of the information available in our Knowledge Base. We won't cover everything available in Kuali Build here, so make sure you check out the Knowledge Base as you become more familiar with the system.
Create an App
Once you have logged into Kuali Build, the first thing you'll want to do is Create an App.
Your app will initially appear in Draft Mode, which means users will not be able to see the form created with your app until you publish it. Additionally, if you need to make any adjustments to your form after it has gone live, Draft Mode allows you to make all of the changes to your app and then publish them at a time that is least disruptive for your users.
Create a Form
After you have created your app, you will be taken to the Form Builder initially (on subsequent visits to your app, you will begin at the Document List). From the Form Builder area you will be able to create your form by adding various gadgets and then configuring those gadgets.
Create a Workflow
Once your form is created, you're ready to create a Workflow that can incorporate approvals, tasks, acknowledgements, custom notifications, and integrations. You can even set up branches of workflow that are determined by conditions set in the form.
After your workflow looks the way you want it, make sure you test it out using the Workflow Simulator. The Workflow Simulator allows you to test your workflow and catch any errors without notifying your reviewers.
Publish and Share Your App
With a completed form and a streamlined workflow, you are ready to publish and share your form. To ensure that your users are able to fill out your form, make sure you have done the following:
- Publish your app! Make sure you click the Publish button from the Publish screen in your app.
- Adjust your app permissions: to ensure your users have the form shared with them.
- Share the link to your form.
Review Submitted Documents
Once your app is published and shared, your users can begin submitting forms. Submitted forms (called Documents in Kuali Build) can be found in the Document List. In the Document List you can view previously submitted documents, adjust the columns, filter the data, and see where a document is at in the workflow.
Happy Building!
Now that you know the basics of creating an app, a form, and a workflow and how to review submissions, you're on your way to becoming a Kuali Build expert. Happy Building!
