After Creating a New App, the Form Builder will appear with three panels.
- The left panel lists the gadgets with can be used to create the form.
- The middle panel displays a preview of the form.
- The right panel contains the configuration panel.
The first item to add to a form is a Section. Select Section from the Layout section within the list of gadgets and drag it into the middle panel.
In a Kuali form, Sections act like containers for questions and help organize the form. Once the Section is in the form, you can place additional gadgets within it to keep the form organized.
Next, add a label to the Section by navigating to the configuration panel on the right, and provide a label within the Gadget Label/Question field. For example, in a form designed to gather information for a travel request, you might title the initial Section as "Travel Request Documentation."
Once a Section has been added, you can select a Gadget from the list on the left and drag it to the desired location within the middle panel. As a best practice, make sure to place the gadget within a Section!
-
You can continue to add additional gadgets or Sections by dragging and dropping them into the center panel. The form saves automatically as you go, so no need to worry about saving anything.
-
The Design/Preview toggle at the top of the form can be used at any time by moving the toggle switch just above the middle panel from Design to Preview. Once in Preview mode you will be able to see the form as your submitters will see it, and you can test the fields by by entering information to confirm you have the right configurations and gadgets in place.
-
Once the form is complete, you can select the Workflow tab in the upper right-hand corner to get to the Workflow Builder, or click Publish to publish and share the form.
